GNU Toolchain Engineer

CodeSourcery is seeking experienced software engineers to develop, maintain, optimize, and enhance the GNU Toolchain, including:

  • GNU Compiler Collection (GCC)
  • GNU Binary Utilities (Binutils)
  • GNU C Library (GLIBC)
  • uClibc Library
  • GNU Debugger (GDB)

and other related components. CodeSourcery works on all aspects of the toolchain, including optimization, porting to new architectures, and support for new language features.

The ideal candidate has experience maintaining these components in a commercial context. He or she has ported the toolchain to new architectures, or to new cores within an existing architecture. The ideal candidate has successfully submitted these improvements to the FSF toolchain maintainers. Experience working with the Linux kernel, including successful submission of Linux kernel patches upstream, is a definite advantage. A history of providing support to users, including backporting fixes to older versions of the tools and maintaining the quality of the toolchain over time, is also valuable.

This is a full-time position. If accepted for this position, you will be part of an extremely active team of GNU Toolchain developers that includes multiple official FSF maintainers. You will have the opportunity to interact directly with customers to assess needs and design solutions. And you will have the luxury of working from your own home.
