Working at CodeSourcery

CodeSourcery is an exciting, fun, and interesting place to work. If you want to be part of a growing, highly technical company and one of the positions at the left interests you, please send your resume to .

Team

The title "Sourcerer" implies a very high level of engineering talent. One of the core ideas behind CodeSourcery is that by hiring the very best, and only the very best, we can provide both a great work environment for our employees and the best possible service to our customers. Sourcerers tend to be highly educated. Most have made significant contributions to open source projects. Several Sourcerers are official maintainers of parts of the GNU Compiler Collection and other parts of the GNU Toolchain. Several Sourcerers have participated in major standardization efforts, including ISO C and ISO C++.

Projects

CodeSourcery works on a diverse set of projects. Our primary focus is on tools that help people develop software. These tools include not just compilers and linkers, but also debuggers, testing tools, and libraries. We have a strong interest in high-performance computing, embedded computing, and the intersection between the two. We like to explain technology to others by teaching and writing.

In the past, CodeSourcery has developed a C++-to-C translator, added support for new ARM processors to the GNU Compiler Collection, assisted in the development of a C++ Application Binary Interface (now an industry standard), developed the specification for VSIPL++ (a high-performance parallel signal-processing Application Programming Interface), improved the GNU Fortran 95 front end, ported GCC to special-purpose processors, designed and implemented QMTest (a test automation tool), and developed an assembly language optimizer. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

In short, you can be sure you'll be challenged. You'll become an expert about things you presently know nothing about.

Work Environment

CodeSourcery has no central office. We work when we want in an environment in which we are comfortable. We can work wherever we want: from a coffeeshop, a library, or anywhere else on the planet with an internet connection. We see our friends and families throughout the day; not just early in the morning and late at night. We presently have Sourcerers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, and Portugal.

Despite the freedom of working from home, we work together well as a team. Most of our projects are collaborative efforts, and we use chat, email, telephone, and our intranet heavily to communicate with each other. We have a weekly telephone meeting. We see each other face-to-face at conferences and at our annual meetings in locations like London, Las Vegas, Key West, and Palm Springs.

Benefits

For all United States employees, CodeSourcery provides a standard array of benefits, including health insurance, dental insurance, and a 401(k) plan. CodeSourcery provides matching contributions into the 401(k) plan. In California, our health insurance plan is paired with an HSA account to which CodeSourcery contributes, thereby providing Sourcerers with the opportunity to accrue dollars for medical expenses that occur years in the future. In the United Kingdom, CodeSourcery contributes to its employees pension plans.
